Carlijn Freutel

Manager

Carlijn is an environmental economist with five years of experience designing, implementing, and evaluating private sector-focused NbS programmes globally.

At Terranomics, Carlijn has been a lead analyst and project manager on assignments focusing on sustainable business models and financial mechanisms in regenerative agriculture, sustainable forestry, and the blue economy. Carlijn also supports the development of public-private blended finance proposals for a range of multilateral organisations including the Global Environment Fund and the Global Fund for Coral Reefs in Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and Africa.

Prior to Terranomics, Carlijn worked in Palladium International’s climate team on the Partnerships for Forests (P4F) programme. This has given her a good understanding of the key drivers and barriers to sustainable land use investments globally. Other work assignments at Palladium included designing donor-funded climate mitigation programmes and blended finance vehicles.

Carlijn has a BSc in Economics and an MSc in Environmental Sciences with a focus on International Development. During this process she gained experience as a field researcher and consultant for an agroforestry company in Ghana and a network of renewable energy businesses in Indonesia.
